For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac Lyriq are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Chevrolet Bolt doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Lyriq and Bolt have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Lyriq has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Bolt’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Lyriq has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Bolt doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The Lyriq has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Bolt doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Lyriq has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Bolt’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Lyriq has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Chevrolet charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Bolt and the Bolt’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert does not include automatic braking.

Both the Lyriq and the Bolt have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The Cadillac Lyriq weighs 1933 to 2213 pounds more than the Chevrolet Bolt. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Lyriq comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Bolt’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Lyriq 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Bolt. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Bolt ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Lyriq’s 6 year corrosion warranty has no mileage limitations, but the corrosion warranty on the Bolt runs out after 100,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Chevrolet is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2023 Auto Issue reports that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Cadillac 3 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

The Lyriq’s standard electric motor produces 140 more horsepower (340 vs. 200) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (325 vs. 266) than the Bolt’s electric motor. The Lyriq’s optional electric motors produces 300 more horsepower (500 vs. 200) and 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (450 vs. 266) than the Bolt’s electric motor.

For better traction, the Lyriq has larger standard tires than the Bolt (265/50R20 vs. 215/50R17). The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Bolt (275/40R22 vs. 215/50R17).

The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bolt’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Lyriq has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 17-inch wheels are available on the Bolt. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Chevrolet Bolt only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

For superior ride and handling, the Cadillac Lyriq has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Chevrolet Bolt has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

The Lyriq has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Lyriq flat and controlled during cornering. The Bolt’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Lyriq’s wheelbase is 19.4 inches longer than on the Bolt (121.8 inches vs. 102.4 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Lyriq is 6.8 inches wider in the front and 6.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Bolt.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Bolt doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the Lyriq has a standard power liftgate, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or, optionally on the Lyriq Luxury/Sport, by just kicking your foot under the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The Bolt doesn’t offer a power liftgate.

The Lyriq offers up to a 3500 lbs. towing capacity. The Bolt has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Lyriq uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Bolt doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Lyriq uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Bolt uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Chevrolet. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac second in service department satisfaction. With a 28% lower rating, Chevrolet is ranked 16th.

When two different drivers share the Lyriq, the memory system makes it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, steering wheel position (with optional power wheel adjuster) and outside mirror angle. The Bolt doesn’t offer a memory system.

The Lyriq’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Bolt doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Lyriq’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Bolt’s passenger windows don’t close automatically.

On a hot day the Lyriq’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Bolt can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Lyriq’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Bolt’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport’s standard wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Lyriq Luxury/Sport has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Bolt doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

When the Lyriq is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Bolt’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Lyriq’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Bolt offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Lyriq has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the Bolt. The Lyriq Luxury/Sport also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Bolt.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the Lyriq keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Bolt doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Lyriq Luxury/Sport offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Bolt.

The Lyriq’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Bolt doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

Both the Lyriq and the Bolt offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the Lyriq has available rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Bolt doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac Lyriq has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Bolt.

The Lyriq offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Bolt doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Lyriq’s optional Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Bolt doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
